The overwhelming support for Laufey was immediately met with demands for a second night or at least, additional tickets to her then, already sold-out show. She repeatedly expressed her appreciation and gratitude for the love that her new Filipino friends have given her and promised to make a return.

In what feels like a full circle moment, she’s doing just that… one year later. And she's coming back not once, not twice, but THREE times!

This will be a very special performance as Laufey rarely performs with a full orchestra on tour. If you’re aware of the kind of music Laufey puts out, it is certain that the Manila Philharmonic will fully complement and symphonically elevate a Laufey show.

Laufey’s rise to fame has become one of the greatest musical phenomena in recent times, essentially bringing jazz back to the younger generation. Her charming personality, graceful stage presence, emotive voice, and exquisite play on words and sounds resonate deeply with not just the majority of her younger audience, but also those who actually grew up listening to jazz. It is no surprise to see a spectrum of generations at her shows.

Laufey (pronounced lāy-vāy) is a 24-year-old, Los Angeles-based singer, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist whose jazz songs are about young love and self-discovery. Raised between Reykjavík and Washington, D.C. with annual visits to Beijing, the Icelandic-Chinese artist grew up playing cello as well as piano and became hooked on the jazz standards of Ella Fitzgerald after digging through her father’s record collection.

Of the new single, Laufey notes, “'Goddess" is my most honest song yet. I wrote it alone at my piano after feeling like someone had fallen in love with the version of me they’d seen on stage, just to find that I wasn’t what they projected once I was off stage. They deemed me to no longer be a shiny thing when the glamor wore off, reduced to skin and bone.”

"We try to get tour locations where we can reach both our current listeners and new ones. ... In locations that are further away, although we can't possibly reach every city, we had it in mind to choose venues that are accessible to as much of our listeners as possible. Another factor would be the existence of local productions, as we wanted to collaborate with and support local scenes,” the five-piece act said via a press release.

“We are embarking on this tour in order to promote our latest album, 'Alegorya.' We'll be singing a lot of songs from the album, but also some older songs. We plan our setlists in a way that makes sense depending on what main message we feel like we need to communicate for the particular event and audience,” the group added.
