MANILA — Malacañang on Tuesday declared May 12, 2025 a special, non-working holiday for the midterm elections.

The holiday is necessary "to enable people to exercise their right to vote," according to Proclamation No. 878 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.

The May 12 nationwide poll will decide hundreds of seats in the House of Representatives and Senate as well as thousands of hotly contested local positions.
