MANILA — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil on Tuesday ordered the administrative relief of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director BGen. Melecio Maddatu Buslig, Jr. after one of his officers figured in a grave misconduct case.

“Let this be clear: we will not allow any abusive officer to hide behind the badge. If you harm the people you swore to protect, you will be arrested, prosecuted, and expelled from the service. No second chances. No exceptions," Marbil said.

The PNP said a QCPD officer was caught on video "forcibly entering a private residence and allegedly assaulting a minor while under the influence of alcohol."

"Upon verification of the facts and validation of evidence, the erring police officer was immediately arrested by his own commander and fellow officers. He was promptly disarmed, and criminal charges have been prepared for filing," the PNP said in a statement.

Marbil said sacking Buslig was a "firm demonstration of command responsibility and a reminder that accountability does not stop at the individual level—it starts at the top."

Last month, another Quezon City policeman threatened to arrest President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and lashed out against the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is facing a crimes against humanity charge in the International Criminal Court.
