Cardinal David, also the president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), said he hoped he could fly by Friday.

“Inaayos pa ang flight reservation kasi naghihintay ako ng update mula sa Dean of the Cardinals. Alam ninyo nag-announce ang Camerlengo... Mukhang sa kasalukuyan, nagaganap ang isang pulong, isang meeting sa Rome sa mga cardinal na naka-base sa Rome para sila magplano ng schedule para sa funeral at para sa conclave,” he told reporters.

“Alam naman nila hindi kadali bumiyahe mula sa ibang bansa papunta sa Roma. Ang main expectation talaga ay ang bawat cardinal siguraduhin na nandoon sila para sa conclave kasi doon kami boboto sa aming Santo Papa pero kung makarating sa funeral Mass, mas maganda,” he added.
