MANILA – The Philippine National Police on Good Friday has recorded 28 “incidents,” mostly cases of drowning, amid the country’s observance of Holy Week.

At least 68,465 police personnel have been deployed across the country under “Ligtas SUMVAC 2025” to secure the safety and well-being of Filipinos during the Holy Week observance, the PNP said.

A total of 19,120 personnel were assigned to places of worship, 18,283 to major thoroughfares, 8,711 to transportation hubs and terminals, 10,125 to commercial areas, and 12,226 to other areas of convergence such as tourist spots and recreational sites.
