CAAP: AirAsia flight to Puerto Princesa experienced engine issue

MANILA — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Thursday an AirAsia flight bound for Puerto Princesa experienced an engine issue.

CAAP said that at around 2:04 p.m. on Thursday, an AirAsia flight with plane number APG430 reported the issue which led to the aircraft returning to Manila.

"The aircraft, carrying 166 passengers and 6 flight crew members, landed safely at Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 2:14 p.m.," CAAP said in its statement.

AirAsia, in a statement, said the plane took off at 2:00 p.m. and returned due to "a minor technical issue."

The passengers of flight Z2430 were transferred to another aircraft that departed NAIA at 4:44 p.m. and landed at Puerto Princesa at 5:41 p.m.

No passengers or crew members were reported injured from the incident.
