MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has directed government agencies to ensure the safety of Filipinos during the Holy Week break, whether they are traveling to various destinations or just staying at home, Malacañang said Monday.

“Unang-una po, syempre ang gusto po ng Pangulo natin at ang direktiba po niya ay bigyan po ang ating mga kababayan-- at hindi lamang mga kababayan kung sino man ang bumibisita sa ating bansa--ng isang safe at convenient travel. Maliban po diyan ang mga naiiwan sa kanilang bahay at hindi naman po nagta-travel at nagbabakasyon ay mabigyan din po ng kanilang proteksyon,” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said.

“At kaya po inaasahan po natin ang ating Secretary, si DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon, naglilibot po siya upang malaman po ang mga nagbabiyahe kung may mga overloading at kung ano-ano pa maaaring maging problema ng mga vehicles, mga transportation na maaaring i-avail ng ating mga kababayan,” she said in a Palace briefing.
“At kaya po inaasahan po natin ang ating Secretary, si DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon, naglilibot po siya upang malaman po ang mga nagbabiyahe kung may mga overloading at kung ano-ano pa maaaring maging problema ng mga vehicles, mga transportation na maaaring i-avail ng ating mga kababayan,” she said in a Palace briefing.
Castro noted that the Bureau of Immigration has deployed more personnel in airports for the expected surge of travelers.

Meanwhile, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. intends to spend his Holy Week break with his family, though he will continue to have various engagements until Wednesday, Castro said.
