MANILA — Mayoral candidate and Senator Nancy Binay said Friday she remained open to reconciling with her sister, incumbent Mayor Abby Binay, despite their political rivalry.

“Magkadugo pa rin kami, iisa lang ang mga magulang namin. So the door for reconciliation should always be open,” she said.

Binay, who is running against her sister’s husband, Second District Rep. Luis Campos Jr., said she looked forward to restoring peace in their family after the election.

“Ang importante ay pag-usapan namin kung ano yung gusto naming ibigay sa mga taga-Makati. Sana maiwasan yung personal attacks kasi at the end of the day, magkapatid pa rin kami,” she added.

On the first day of local campaigning, Binay visited Barangay Pio del Pilar, which she described as the “roots” of the Binay family.

“Pinaka-hamon siguro at the end of the day, I don’t have the equity of the incumbent. Yun yung for me, very challenging,” she said.

Former congressman Monsour Del Rosario, who is running for vice mayor against Makati First District Rep. Kid Peña, campaigned alongside Binay.

Team Binay’s slate of councilor candidates also joined the house-to-house campaign, which began at 7 a.m. after a Mass at San Ildefonso Parish Church.
