MANILA —  The wife of an alleged extrajudicial killing (EJK) victim said on Tuesday she welcomes the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte, saying this was a step closer for them to receiving the justice they long waited for.

Jane Lee, wife of EJK victim Michael Lee, said she even doubted the rumors of Duterte getting arrested on Tuesday and said she will only believe them when she sees it herself.

After a while, she said she reminded herself to calm down because Duterte's arrest does not equate into them getting the justice they seek.

She also shared that even her children were not able to believe it at first that Duterte was arrested.

Jane said that even though they were glad that the former president was arrested, they still lament who they lost and the future that they could have had with their loved ones.

According to Jane, her husband was killed during Duterte's bloody war on drugs wherein he was accused of being a drug user and was gunned down by a riding in tandem near their home in North Caloocan.
