The National ID registration is now open to children below 1 year old, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Thursday.

The PSA said the parent or guardian of children applying for registration should already be registered to the National ID system, as the child's National ID Number would be linked to the adults' National ID Number.

"If parents or guardians still need to register for the National ID, they may register together with their child in any PSA registration center and colocation sites," PSA said in a statement.

The statistics agency said applicants should present the following supporting documents:

• Certificate of Live Birth issued by the PSA or the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO)
• Report of Birth issued by the PSA or Philippine Foreign Service Post (PFSP)
• Certificate of Foundling issued by the PSA
• Certificate of Foundling or Certificate of Live Birth or Persons with No Known Parent/s issued by the PSA 
• Municipal Form No. 102 issued by the Local Civil Registry Office. Philippine Passport or ePassport issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)
• Any document showing the full name of the child, date and place of birth, the full name of the mother, and the full name of the father, if acknowledged

The PSA said only the demographic information and photograph of the child shall be captured for their National ID.

"The complete biometric information, including fingerprints, iris scan, and updated front-facing photograph, shall be collected when the child reaches the age of 5," said the agency.
