The Manila local government announced that a new skate park will be built in place of the demolished Manila Skate Park.

Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan made the promise during the groundbreaking of the construction of the 10-story Kalinga sa Maynila Center in Paco, Manila on January 25, 2025 on top of the demolished Canonigo Sports Complex or the Manila Skate Park.

In her speech for the new multipurpose building, Lacuna assured skaters and riders who frequent the demolished skate park that Vice Mayor Yul Servo is coordinating with the MMDA for a new skate park to be built in the Paraiso ng mga Batang Maynila in Malate, Manila.

"At huwag po kayong mahihinayang sa skateboard park na nandyan po dati. Kasi po sa kahilingan ng butihing Vice Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto sa MMDA, ililipat lang po natin yan sa mas magandang lugar, sa Paraiso po dyan sa tapat ng Manila Zoo. Kaya wag po kayong mangangamba na yung dati nyong nakikita dito ay tuluyan nang mawawala. Hindi po."

Early in the year, skaters and riders expressed dismay after seeing the nearly decade-old skate park being demolished without any warning or advanced notice in a video captured by local skaters.

An earlier statement to ABS-CBN News mentioned that a skate park will be included in the plans in for the Green Green Green Program in Plaza Azul.
