MANILA — Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was confined at a private hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said Tuesday.

Quiboloy was first brought to the government-run Rizal Medical Center last Saturday. Due to its limited facilities, the doctors recommended his transfer to a hospital of his choice, BJMP spokesman Jayrex Bustinera said.

This is the third time Quiboloy has been hospitalized since his detention at the PNP Custodial Center in September, and later at the Pasig City Jail.

“Nagmula po ito sa kanyang complaint sa aming medical infirmary doon na difficulty of breathing,” Bustinera said.

(This started with his complaint at our medical infirmary about difficulty breathing.)

“Ang recommendation ng BJMP physician, base sa kanyang diagnosis, is it’s a community-acquired pneumonia,” he added.

(The recommendation from the BJMP physician, based on his diagnosis, is that it’s community-acquired pneumonia.)

Bustinera declined to disclose the details of the hospital for patient security and privacy reasons but assured that Quiboloy had “sufficient security and escorts.”

Quiboloy, 74, was detained on charges of qualified human trafficking and sexual abuse, which he claimed were fabricated by disgruntled members of his religious group.
