MANILA -- The local government of Manila has already made preparations for the influx of traffic and people heading to the Iglesia Ni Cristo’s "National Rally for Peace" gathering on Monday, January 13.

Atty. Princess Abante, spokesperson of Office of the Manila Mayor, said the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau spent the whole day preparing roads leading to the Quirino Grandstand where the gathering is scheduled to take place.

"The whole day today, nag-assist ang ating MTPB para to make sure na clear ang mga daan dahil ine-expect ating madaming darating ng araw na ito na magpupuntahan na siguro sa ibat ibang parte malapit sa Grandstand," she said in an interview on Story Outlook on Teleradyo Serbisyo.

They will also implement road closures and provide alternate routes for the smooth flow of traffic.

"Bukas may mga road closures pong itinalaga ng City of Manila around grandstand, 'yung Katigbak Drive, South Drive, Roxas Boulevard and Bonifacio Drive, Finance Road, Gen. Luna and Kalaw ay may road closures bukas," said Abante.

She also advised those who are not connected to the rally to avoid heading to the area for now.

Meanwhile, the NLEX-SCTEX Corp. also made its preparations for the anticipated surge of from Northern Luzon particularly those attending the INC Peace Rally.

Robin Ignacio, NLEX-SCTEX Corp. Traffic Operations chief, said that traffic is still normal in their area as of Sunday afternoon.

He said that when the surge begins, they will implement measures to manage the flow of motorists heading to Metro Manila.
