MANILA (UPDATE) — A Pasay court has ordered the release of detained actress and businesswoman Neri Naig, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and her lawyer said Wednesday.

Miranda was detained in Pasay City Jail on November 27 after a commitment order issued by the same court for violation of the Securities Regulation Code and syndicated estafa.

"Ang paglaya niya na ito, itong release order na ito ay hindi dahil sa piyansa o nakapag piyansa, ito ay dahil sa partially granted ang motion to quash ng kanyang mga abogado specifically doon sa kanyang pagkakaaresto… usually nakikita ang merito ng argumento ng kanyang abogado na valid naman ang kanilang argument na may technicalities sa arrests thay's why nagrant ito, partially grant, and with that comes yung kanyang release," said BJMP Spokesperson JSupt Jayrex Bustinera.

Meanwhile, Atty. Roberto Labe, counsel of the 39 complainants that filed the case against Miranda said they knew this would come. As court records showed that the complaints failed to reach the accused which resulted in the quashal of the arrest warrant.
