President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has signed the 2025 national budget, but clarified that after thorough review, he vetoed over P194 billion line items "that are not consistent to our program priorities."
The line items include certain programs of the Department of Public Works and Highways and those under the unprogrammed appropriations that increased by 300 percent.
Marcos said the "Executive Branch is one with the people in raising concerns over appropriations that are not consistent with the country's development plan and responsive to the need of the people. Every centavo must go to programs that truly uplift lives, strengthen communities, secure the future development of the Philippines."
