According to Justice Undersecretary Raul Vasquez, the Indonesian government asked for the face-to-face audience with Philippine authorities.

Philippine officials are hoping that Veloso, who was sentenced to death in Indonesia for drug trafficking, will be transferred to the Philippines before Christmas.

“Kailan ang importanteng tanong at kung walang kondisyon mas maganda pero kung may kondisyon sila titingnan natin kung ano iyong magiging kondisyon na ilalagay nila kasi wala tayong tratado eh, we don’t have any treaty with Indonesia with respect to the transfer of sentenced persons,” Vasquez said.

Veloso — who was arrested in 2010 for carrying 2.6 kilograms of heroin in her luggage — was supposed to be executed in 2015 until the last-minute arrest of her recruiter, who allegedly stashed the illegal drugs in her bags without her knowledge.
