MANILA -- The management of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport said they expect to handle even more travelers during the Holy Week this year compared to last year.

"From April 13 to 20, NAIA is expected to welcome more than 1.18 million passengers—a 14.23 percent increase from last year’s 1.04 million. Flight movements are also projected to rise, from 6,537 in 2024 to 6,724 this year," the New NAIA Infra Corp (NNIC) said.  The busiest day will be on Good Friday, April 18, with 851 flights.

To avoid delays, NNIC advises passengers to arrive early—at least three hours before international flights and two hours before domestic ones.

Travelers are also encouraged to double-check their flight details and terminal assignments, make sure their travel documents are complete, and avoid bringing prohibited items in their hand-carry or checked bags.

Philippine Airlines meanwhile, gave the following tips:

- Do online check-in to skip the lines. Check in via the website or mobile app 24 hours to 1 hour before your flight.

- Leave home early to get to the airport on time. Expect heavy traffic, especially in the bigger cities like Manila and Cebu, so leave home extra early. 

-  Stay within your free baggage allowance. Ensure that your bags are within the free baggage allowance of your booking class and declare your items during check-in.

PAL advises that For Holy Week, check-in:

- As early as three (3) to four (4) hours before departure for domestic flights at NAIA Terminal 2

- As early as four (4) to five (5) hours before departure for international flights at NAIA Terminal 1

- Check the latest update on the status of your flight by logging on to the airline's website. 

- Know your terminal and boarding gate. Always check and listen to public announcements for updates, in case there might be changes. You can also check the Airport Terminal information page on our website.

- Make sure you have a valid passport, IDs, and travel documents.

For International trips:

- Passport should be valid at least 6 months from your date of travel

- The name on your ticket must be exactly the same as the name reflected in your passport

- Ensure that you have the required visas, permits, vaccination card (if appropriate) and other documents required for your destination

For Domestic trips:

- Bring your valid government, school, or company-issued ID

- Ensure that the name on your ticket is exactly the same as the name reflected in the ID presented upon check-in and boarding

NNIC said assistance desks will be operating round-the-clock in all terminals, staffed by airport personnel, medical teams, and uniformed officers. Additional traffic aides will be deployed to manage curbside and parking flow, while improved Wi-Fi connectivity ensures passengers can stay connected.
