According to Health Secretary Ted Herbosa, people who work out in the sun should find shade and cool down to avoid dehydration and heat exhaustion, which could lead to heatstroke. "Uminom ng maraming tubig," he said. 

He urged the elderly to check their blood pressure to avoid hypertension. 

Diarrhea is also a big problem during the hot season, the health chief said, especially since food spoils easily when temperatures are high.

"Mabilis masira 'yung mga pagkain lalo na reheated, ilang oras mo lang iwan sira na," he said. 

Gastrointestinal illnesses can also come from contaminated water, especially if water sources have not been used for a while.
