BACOLOR - The blessed sacrament at the San Guillermo Parish Church in Pampanga was stolen by unidentified men Saturday, prompting it to temporary close and suspend its masses and baptisms.

The holy eucharist was found discarded near the vicinity, but the monstrance that was made of gold and a portrait of the Holy Family were still missing, church officials said.

"Malaking kawalan ito sa amin. Na-deconsecrate ang simbahan," San Guillermo parish priest Fr. Manny Sta. Maria said.

(This is a big loss to us. Our church was deconsecrated.)

Investigators said the thieves may be tracked down soon as there were witnesses to the case.

Some antique shops and collectors also promised to provide information to the police in case the stolen monstrance is offered to them for sale.
