MANILA (UPDATED) — A total of 22 municipalities and cities in Bulacan province are now flooded Monday due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Egay and the southwest monsoon strengthened by Typhoon Falcon.

Bulacan Vice Governor Alex Castro said the following areas are flooded as of Monday morning:

"Medyo [nakapagtataka] lang po dahil may mga bayan na hindi usually binabaha, or dating binabaha pero hindi naman ganito kataas," Castro told ANC.

(It's puzzling how some of the areas that were not usually flooded got inundated, while some of them have previously been flooded but not as deep as now.)

Among the unusually flooded areas, he said, are Guiguinto, Balagtas, Bocaue, and Plaridel.

"Dati gilid lang ng ilog ang binabaha, pero ngayon may residential areas na rin," he said.

(Before, only the riverbanks got flooded. But now, residential areas got hit by floods, too.)

The vice governor added that a total of 21,585 or 5.601 families are now staying in evacuation centers.

Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando also reported that his province has suffered agricultural damage worth P93 million.

"Kailangang kailangan po ng aming magsasaka iyong tulong pagkabuhayan," he told a special panel of the House of Representatives on Monday.

(Our farmers are in dire need of help to restart their livelihood.)

Fernando earlier announced a work and class suspension in the entire province for Monday, July 31.

The water level in Angat Dam, Metro Manila's primary water supplier, rose to 195.05 meters as of Monday, or 15 meters over the minimum operating level of 180 meters, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
