MANILA - (UPDATED) Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog-Echavez and her brother arrived in Manila on Monday, a day after a string of raids that led to their arrest and the death of their parents.

The vice mayor and her brother, Reynaldo Jr., arrived with their police escort at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport around 9 a.m.

They were transferred to the national police headquarters at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

Police sought the siblings' transfer to save cost in the filing of charges against them, said Director Roel Obusan, head of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

"We applied for search warrant dito, so court of origin is Manila. So we have to commit persons and evidences dito sa Manila. That’s why they are being brought here," Obusan told reporters at Camp Crame.

"As part of the evaluation, kung ano mang magandang gawin sa case analysis mamaya on all the evidences and everything, kung legally possible na mailipat na rin dito yung pagfa-file ng information against them, kung papayag ang national prosecutor’s office, dito na lang to save cost."

Policemen on Sunday served 6 search warrants against the properties of the Parojinog family in San Roque Lawis, Ozamiz around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Security personnel of the Parojinogs however fought authorities, triggering a gun battle that left 15 people dead, including the Parijonog patriarch, Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo Sr., and his wife Susan.

Vice Mayor Parajinog and her brother meanwhile were arrested after authorities found P1.4 million in cash, half a kilogram of suspected shabu and several firearms in her house.

Before flying to Manila, the vice mayor claimed police planted evidence against her family -- an allegation denied by Misamis Occidental police chief Senior Supt. Jaysen De Guzman.

Vice Mayor Parojinog also told reporters that she fears for her safety, but will trust authorities.
