Davao City Mayor and presidential daughter Sara Duterte said the Southern City has been placed under a "hold and secure situation," following Maute group's attack in Marawi City.

"From lockdown, we are on a hold and secure situation. We are preventing violence from erupting inside the city, we are preventing violence from entering the city," Duterte said in a press conference Wednesday.

In Marawi City, located 250 kilometers from Davao City, military troops were pursuing bandits from Maute group while on a mission to arrest Isnilon Hapilon, the suspected leader of the Islamic State in Southeast Asia. The terror group has taken hostages and are reportedly taking over some government establishments. President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday night declared martial law in Mindanao and cut short his Russian trip.

Under Davao City's "hold and secure" status, minors are not allowed to roam unaccompanied by adults at night and people are encouraged to practice the "buddy system."

The Davao City chief also warned against travel to and from Davao City, "if it's not an urgent matter to attend to." Tourists were told to exercise caution and "are discouraged from going to areas that are not included among the main tourism areas of the city."

Sara also showed a flag of the terror group ISIS, as she urged residents to report to 911 any sightings of the logo.

The mayor said she was also waiting her father's arrival for a clearer instruction regarding the declaration of martial law in Mindanao.
