The head of the Metro Manila police said Monday that he has instructed district commanders to draw a list of officers that deserve to be recognized for "simple good deeds."

Awards typically commend officers for the arrest of suspects, at times snubbing those who had kept their areas crime-free, said National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Camilo Cascolan.

(This is why I said it may be better if we give awards to peaceful communities. By recognizing the simple good deeds of our police, the public will realize how much effort foes to maintaining and sustaining peace and order in thier area.)

The award, which will serve as "a pat in the back", can be in the form of commendation, certificate of recognition or medals, he said.
