MANILA - The United Kingdom has urged its citizens to be "especially vigilant" in traveling through Central Visayas, citing the United States' warning of terror activity in the region.

In an updated advisory Tuesday, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office told its citizens to be wary of traveling to the region, including Cebu and Bohol.

The British warning came just as clashes between Abu Sayyaf bandits and the military ensued in Bohol.

"On 9 April 2017, the US Embassy in Manila advised US citizens that it had received “unsubstantiated yet credible information that terrorist groups may attempt to conduct kidnappings in Central Visayas, which includes both Cebu and Bohol provinces”. You should be especially vigilant in these areas,"

The UK is the third nation to warn its citizens of travel to a region in the Philippines.

In an advisory issued Monday night, the Australian government advised its citizens against traveling to Central and Western Mindanao, citing a "very high risk" for travelers to those areas.
