MANILA – A police officer arrested in Las Pinas City on Thursday for alleged drug use has named another law enforcer as his supplier.

Police Superintendent Lito Cabamongan, who was caught during an alleged pot session in Everlasting Village, Talon 4, Las Piñas City, pointed to Police Chief Inspector Joselito Savares as his shabu supplier.

However, Chief Superintendent Aurelio Trampe, Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory Director, said he ordered Savares to keep track of Cabamongan who is the former chief of the PNP Crime Laboratory Satellite Office in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Savares is the Chief of the Intelligence Division of the PNP Crime Laboratory.

"Intel officer ko si PCI Savares, whom I tasked to validate all the derogatory info against Cabamongan. The latter has an axe to grind against Savares. So it’s but natural na di ko sanctioned ang activity ni Cabamongan against Savares, who just obeyed my order," said Trampe in a text message.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Savares said they had a number of reports detailing bad behavior by Cabamongan.

"Meron kami mga reports na pagte-text nya sa mga doctor namin, parang nagyayaya siya na makipag-date. Nabalitaan namin ang ginawa niya doon sa SM Southmall. Nag-exercise, nag-yoga at pumasok sa mall na may dalang baril,” he said.

Savares also claimed Cabamongan is a bully who used to harass personnel in the crime lab.

However, he denied any knowledge about Cabamongan’s previous drug involvement.

"Hindi namin siya nakuhaan ng report na with regard to involvement nya sa drugs. Wala kaming kumbaga pag tungkol sa drugs hindi namin nakitaan o may nakapag-report sa amin na nakakapag-drugs siya. He's been monitored for almost 2 years mula 2015 hanggang ngayon,” Savares said.

Cabamongan previously tested negative for drug use.

The officers assured the public that it was unlikely that Cabamongan “recycled” drugs from the crime lab, as they employ strict security measures.

"Kaya panawagan namin sa publiko na ang ginawa ni Cabamongan ay sana huwag maapektuhan ang crime lab. Credibility namin ang nakasalalay dito. Mahabang panahon na iningatan," Savares said.

Cabamongan yesterday tested positive for drug use, but results were subject to a confirmatory test.

Cabamongan was set to undergo neuropsychiatric evaluation on Friday.
