MANILA - Binan, Laguna Rep. Marlyn "Len" Alonte-Naguiat on Monday denied involvement in an alleged P100-million bribery attempt to get inmates of the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) to recant their testimony against Senator Leila de Lima.

"I am surprised that my name, something I have protected very well my whole life, was dragged into baseless and false accusations," she said.

Holding back tears, Naguiat said she felt bad and questioned her role in government when the news of the alleged bribery attempt broke out.

"Aaminin ko po, noong una ko pong narinig ito, sumama po ang loob ko at inisip ko, ito ba ang gobyerno na aking ipinaglalaban? Ito ba ang partido na aking sinasamahan? Pero nung maisip-isip ko, hindi naman ako siguro nagkamali," she said.

Inisip ko na lang na ang gobyernong ito ay walang tinitingnan, walang kinikilingan, kapartido ka man o hindi, at dahil dito, dahil dito sa isip na pinanghahawakan ko, alam ko na dito sa administrasyong ito, makukuha ko ang hustisya dahil alam kong ang administrasyong ito ay patas," Naguiat added.
