MANILA - A magnitude 4.7 earthquake rattled Ilocos Norte province on Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor struck at around 12:59 p.m. Its epicenter was located 6 kilometers northwest of of Bacarra town, Phivolcs said.
With a depth of 42 kilometers, the quake was felt at Intensity 3 in Laoag City and Paoay. This intensity may be felt like the passing of a light truck and can cause hanging objects to swing moderately, the agency said.
Instrumental Intensity 3 meanwhile was recorded in Laoag City and Pasuquin in Ilocos Norte, and Vigan City and Sinait in Ilocos Sur.
No major damage was expected from the quake, which was also unlikely to spawn aftershocks, Phivolcs said.
