The outgoing Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will leave all pending motions for a fare hike among public utility vehicles (PUVs), for the next administration to decide.

According to LTFRB Chair Attotney Winston Ginez, he is discussing the matter with incoming chair Attorney Martin Delgra, and leaving the decision to the new board.

"The board doesn’t want to tie the hands of the incoming administration. We would rather have them evaluate, review, and decide on these pending petitions," he said on ANC's Headstart on Thursday.

Ginez revealed there are pending motions to increase or decrease fares for jeepneys, buses, UV Express shuttles, and taxis.

Under Ginez's watch, taxi base fare was initially cut down by P10 and the waiting time for the meter was also revised, but the fare reduction was suspended April this year.

If a hike or a reduction would be implemented again, Ginez said it will call for a calibration of the taxis, which would take longer than what is left of his term.

"I was told by our chief of our technical division, it would take about three to four months of doing that nationwide. Since tatawid na po ‘yan dun sa bagong administrasyon, we would rather [have] them deciding [on] the matter," he said.
