MANILA -- The Miss Universe Philippines 2025 candidates are all in it to win it as they dazzled in their national costumes Wednesday night at the Okada Manila Grand Ballroom.

The 66 beauties went all-out to work with local designers and bring out the fantastic display of costumes of various colors, silhouettes, textures, and themes.

However, they all shared a common theme of mythical creatures of Philippine folklore.

Among the standouts was Caloocan’s Allyson Ee dressed as ‘Walo,’ an eight-headed hairy giant with a thousand eyes who is supposedly guarding a section of heaven holding human souls.

“Semi-finals was super fun,” said Ee. “I’m just enjoying every moment.”

When asked about how she feels with the upcoming finals night, Ee replied: “I’m very excited to see what all the girls have in store, and I’m very excited to show the universe what I have in store.”

One of the biggest standouts was also Ifugao’s Valerie Pawid West dressed in all-white while showcasing her ballet skills during her presentation.  “I’m embodying the spirit of Engkanto. I’m representing Ifugao so specifically the Engkanto of the Forest,” West said.

Miss Iloilo Karen Nicole Piccio was also among the standouts despite being visibly tired afterwards from carrying her heavy costume — a playful take on Ilonggo folklore. Piccio had just come from the hospital after an acid attack but didn’t want to miss the national costume show that she and her team prepared for. “I feel proud of myself,” Piccio said with a smile.

Miss Quezon Ahtisa Manalo was also applauded for her fierce rendition of the TikTik, who prowls at night looking for houses with pregnant women.

Also dressed as the TikTik was Wynwyn Marquez of Muntinlupa while paying homage to Philippine cinema. “It’s actually a tribute to my mother, she was the original aswang in the movies, the first one,” Marquez said talking about her mother Alma Moreno.

Meanwhile, Yana Aduana of Siniloan, Laguna channeled her inner Maria Makiling, who “protects the forest and gives away bountiful produce to the farmers.”

“All throughout my pageantry, I’ve been wearing Maria Makiling,” Aduana said after revealing that this is her third time sporting the same theme. “I said we could change it up a bit but thought Maria Makiling has been guiding me all throughout. So, I’m wearing her final stage now and completely embodying her persona.”

Miss Quezon City Zoey Honeyman paired her white-lady costume with a balete tree to bring the Balete Drive stories to life.

“It’s so fun, I get to see everyone’s creation while also showcasing this creation by my designer,” Honeyman shared.

Kat Llegado rocked a blonde hairdo and dressed as ‘Amihan’ while sharing that she feels calm knowing that the finals is just right around the corner.

“Ang mindset ko ay I’m just calm, I’m just excited so excited to really go on this competition the second time around and hopefully this time, we’ll conquer the universe,” Llegado said.

“For the finals, dapat niyo abangan kasi mas bongga pa finals gown ko,” she said after talking about how happy she was with her evening gown performance.

Other standouts included Gwendoline Meliz Soriano of Baguio, Shaina Rabacal of Camarines Sur, Jarina Sandhu of Isabela, Angeline Cordero of Iloilo Province.

Miss Tuguegarao Thea Samantha Lacanlalay took a fall but got up quickly and carried on to showcase her nature-inspired ensemble.
