MANILA — The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), in collaboration with the Department of Tourism (DOT), has officially announced the Philippines’ participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

The unveiling ceremony of the “Philippine Pavilion” took place at the Ayala Museum in Makati on Tuesday night.

With the theme ”Designing future societies for our lives,” Expo 2025 Osaka aims to foster hope and reconnect humanity while exploring innovative approaches to building a sustainable future. The event was highlighted by a vibrant showcase of Filipino culture, featuring performances ranging from traditional dances to modern fashion, creating a rich showcase of the nation’s heritage.

Maria Margarita Nograles, TPB's Chief Operating Officer, expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming expo and the unique features of the Philippine Pavilion.

“Our pavilion will boast of two things. We are celebrating and bringing together over 200 Indigenous communities [and] textiles woven into the pavilion and the next is that… There will be a live performance woven into the facade ng ating Pavilion,” she emphasized.

Nograles further articulated the importance of community-based tourism in the TPB’s agenda.

“At the tourism promotions board, community-based tourism is a priority agenda for us not only to give that unique Philippine experience to our tourists but also to empower local communities all over the nation,” she said in her speech.

The Philippine Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka promises to be a groundbreaking showcase of innovation and cultural diversity.

It will feature the first-ever live performance woven into its façade at a world expo, alongside an immersive, multi-sensory space highlighting the rich cultural heritage from all 18 unique regions in the country.
