The Philippines is known as the Pearl of the Orient Seas, and the country's Miss International representative this year, Angelica Lopez, took this name to heart.

The Filipina beauty queen was a show-stopper during the pageant's national costume show in Japan. Her outfit, designed by Patrick Isorena, was made using thousands of pearls and crystals.

According to Binibining Pilipinas, the goal is for Lopez to showcase "a stunning celebration of Filipino heritage."

"This unique ensemble not only showcases our cultural legacy but also pays homage to the age-old art of pearl diving that the Philippines is renowned for," Bb. Pilipinas said on its social media pages.

"Each piece is handcrafted with love, ensuring that the spirit of our ancestors shines through," it added.

Lopez aims to win the Philippines' seventh Miss International crown. Her predecessor, Nicole Borromeo, finished third runner-up last year.

The 62nd edition of Miss International will be held in Tokyo, Japan on November 12.
