MANILA - Singer Aiza Seguerra clarified speculations that incoming President Rodrigo Duterte will appoint her as the new head of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

In a statement sent to ABS-CBN News reporter Abner Mercado on Monday, Seguerra stressed that Duterte just asked for her help in the arts and culture sector.

"Hindi po ako appointed ni Mayor. The President asked to help in arts and culture so kami, in response to this, are currently consulting with various cultural workers and members of the academe to draft a consolidated and comprehensive agenda to present to the President," Seguerra said.

The "Pagdating ng Panahon" hitmaker also stressed: "Wala po kaming personal agenda about doing this."

Speculations that she will be the next commissioner of the NCCA circulated after her meeting with Duterte in Davao City last week.

Duterte, according to reports sought the assistance of Seguerra and his wife, Liza Diño, for the promotion of arts and culture in the country.

Seguerra and Diño have been vocal in their support for Duterte ever since he started his presidential campaign.
