MANILA – A month after their “celebration of love” in Boracay, top designer Francis Libiran revealed that he and businessman Christian Mark Jacobs are planning to tie the knot in the United States.

Libiran said they intend to get married in California in 2018.

“Since it’s not legal here in the Philippines, we’re really going to do another wedding in California a year from now to legalize everything,” he told ABS-CBN News and selected members of the media during the launch of his collection of engagement and wedding rings on Thursday.

Libiran went on to share that he and Jacobs have yet to go on their much-deserved honeymoon, saying that they are hoping to take a break this December.

“One thing I regretted after the wedding is not going on a honeymoon because the next day, we both have to work right away. We need that break,” he said, laughing.

‘FOREVER’ RINGS

Forever Francis Libiran, the designer’s newest venture, is a partnership with five-year-old company J’s Diamond Jewelry.

Libiran designed all of the engagement and wedding rings in the brand’s newest line, which is available at his store in Greenbelt 5, Makati.

Prices start at P100,000.

“I’ve been in the business for 20 years designing wedding gowns, so what’s the best way to do something different? By designing Forever Francis Libiran, you get something you keep forever and you get to appreciate it every day,” he said.

“I wanted the rings to be timeless, very elegant and simple. Those are the things I considered,” he added.

When asked about his inspiration for the Forever Francis Libiran collection, he replied: “The same feeling when I got my [engagement] ring. For me, I would look at my ring every day, every morning. It’s something special to me, it’s a reminder of my special day.”

Libiran also designed the wedding rings he and his partner wore during their big day in Boracay.

He happily shared that he has since been getting inquiries from same-sex couples, not only for rings but also for suits.

“I got a lot of inquiries for same-sex marriage, like ‘Can you design our rings?’ ‘Can you design our suits?’ ‘What’s the process in doing your wedding?’ ‘What are the permits?’” he recalled.

“And I just say, hire an officiator and that’s it. Just do it!”
