MANILA – The camp of presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte on Friday apologized to one of his major supporters, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, for apparently snubbing him following his victory in the 2016 polls.

Peter Laviña, Duterte's campaign spokesman, explained that it is city mayor's staff that is arranging the activities of Duterte in Davao.

"These are not intentional. We wanted to accommodate everyone and, of course, we wanted to consult everyone. This is a continuing process. We are barely one week only," said Laviña.

He likewise defended the city mayor's staff, saying they have been overwhelmed by the unexpected number of well-wishers.

"Hopefully, we can extend our apology to Pastor Apollo Quiboloy; the same apology we extended already to Pastor [Absolum] Cerveza of the MNLF [Moro National Liberation Front]," he said.

Quiboloy, head of the Mindanao-based Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), endorsed the tandem of Duterte and Alan Peter Cayetano in the 2016 presidential and vice-presidential elections.

Laviña did not rule out the possibility that Duterte would consider Quiboloy's recommendations for government posts.

Quiboloy, according to reports, was hurt and felt excluded when he was not consulted in the selection process of the incoming Duterte administration's cabinet.

"The mayor may want to consult Pastor [Apollo] Quiboloy on some of the nominees he has already named and some who were not yet named," he said.
