Louis Vuitton remains at the forefront of fashion after yet another impressive show. The luxury brand took its Men’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection to Aranya, an exclusive beachside community in Beidaihe, China. Reimagining the spanning three-mile beach, LV and Vector Architects created 320 meters of a racetrack-inspired runway between two key sites in Aranya, the Lonely Library and the Community Hall.

The presentation upholds late Artistic Director Virgil Abloh’s under-constructed designs, love for music, and vision to create varied expressions of youthfulness and the process of growing up.

Symbols of childhood played a key role across the garments which included origami paper planes, building block beading, play dough textures and colors, cartoon prints, and sandbox tool embellishments. Designed by the Louis Vuitton Studio Prêt-à-Porter Homme, these nostalgic elements are seen on the 10 additional looks that complete the spin-off show.

Virgil’s adoration for music was also presented on the show through the two SpeakerMan looks that incorporate wireless loudspeakers into backpacks, blasting the live scoring by Benji B and Beijing-based instrumental band, Sleeping Dogs.

As an ode to French romanticism and Louis Vuitton’s ancestral home in Asnières, the spin-off show also incorporated tapestries and prints of flower fields in suits and jackets. The show was a tribute and representation of many things but it only reminds us of Virgil’s impact in fashion. Whoever comes next to the late visionary has truly massive shoes to fill.
