The Philippine government is working to remove thousands of illegal gaming websites operating in the country, a Palace official said Monday.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said this amid concerns over the social impact of online casino games, commonly known as “Scatter” to Filipinos and their families.

The official says Scatter is a game offered by licensed gaming website, and that there are measures in place to prevent those addicted to gambling from playing.

Castro said the bigger problem lies with the thousands of illegal gaming websites that continue to operate in the country.
