In a recent commercial shoot for Avon, Heart Evangelista radiates an aura as warm, welcoming, and inclusive as the brand's new Intimate Apparel line. In an exclusive interview with Metro.Style, the renowned fashion icon reflects on her personal journey toward body acceptance and why she believes now, more than ever, is the perfect time for her to be part of something like this.

Sat on a large bed in her dressing room, surrounded by her team and two of her dogs, the star wore a gray tank top, and loose denim pants that, although plain, was made to look effortlessly chic. “You’re going to have to attend many funerals of yourself as you continuously evolve,” she imparts, clearly drawing wisdom from her experiences.

When asked what advice she would give to her younger self about self-love, body positivity, and embracing her uniqueness, she states that if she ever found her young self crying, she’d probably tell her that it’s really going to be okay. “Even when it’s not…” she states, “...it will. Because everything that you go through is just meant to direct you to a better path” noting that these struggles is what develops your immunity, helping you face future struggles, and being able to overcome them.

Heart reveals that she wasn’t always confident about her body though; and it took a while getting to where she is now. The fashion icon owes her love to herself from experience and age. Navigating life as a woman in the public eye, Heart also emphasizes being truthful, noting that only recently has she started opening up about her own struggles. She goes as far as reformatting her Youtube channel, trying to make it as unfiltered as possible to embody the more truthful version of her: “Perfection is not of this world. So if there’s anybody that you’d like to emulate that’s perfect, that’s impossible, ” she adds.

Despite the struggles she has faced, Heart discloses that if given the chance to do anything differently in her career, she would not change anything. She admits that, if she had been asked this question before however, she would say yes, as she states having struggled to clip personalities of herself to fit in, saying that all she wanted was to belong. Today, a well-experienced and battle hardened Heart is thankful for her priceless experiences, recognizing how these have shaped her in her journey; and it is because of these experiences that Heart feels her current self is a worthy representation of Avon’s new campaign.

“Together, we shape the world,” the tagline for the campaign, is fitting for Avon’s Intimate Apparel line, which is a testament to the brand’s commitment to empowering women and redefining comfort. The campaign will soon be launching with Heart Evangelista at the frontlines as its ambassador. The former Avon Fine Fragrance ambassador says she feels like she now fully embodies the message of the brand and its new line: “I mean, I’m not perfect. I’m not always confident, but because I love myself more, I feel like I appreciate what I see everyday. So I feel like now is the perfect time to be part of this family.”

Heart reveals that she has always been a fan of the brand. She recalls being 20 years old and almost having the opportunity to work with Avon. When granted the opportunity to work with them again, she was ecstatic. She continues on to praise the brand for their new Intimate Apparel line, reasoning that it is an essential: “They (Avon) understand that we as women need quality, but it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg, aside from the fact that it doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg, they’re beautiful pieces that you could incorporate with your daily life and that you could also wear as an outfit itself. So I love how they’re so versatile and that they embrace every body type and what they stand for is really women empowerment and I really like that.”

Her personal experience with Avon Intimate Apparel is sensational, expressing that the new line doesn’t feel awkward when worn. “No matter what size you look for actually, there’s something that feels like it was made for you that’s why it’s nice because it feels like it’s a very intimate relationship,” she explains. “it also kind of embraces your flaws, meaning to say it hides the parts that you want to hide in a sense even if women don’t want to talk about it, so it’s really kind of…it’s very becoming,” the fashion icon proclaims, almost charmed by her own words, as everyone else was in the room.

Heart Evangelista’s collaboration with Avon’s Intimate Apparel signifies a union of values, commitment to women empowerment, and celebrating diversity in women’s bodies. Heart believes in making a difference in whatever it is she is doing; and with her collaboration in Avon’s newest campaign, she is sure to do just that.
