For the fourth installment of its artist partnerships, Louis Vuitton unveils a new chapter of the artist-designed ArtyCapucines collection. Inspired by the iconic Rue Des Capucines, the Capucines' distinct rhombus silhouette and arc-shaped top handle make a the perfect blank canvas for contemporary artists.

Spanning the global art scene, this limited-edition drop features the works of Daniel Buren, Kennedy Yanko, Park Seo-Beo, Amélie Bertrand, Peter Marino, and Ugo Rondinone. The six leading contemporary artists bring their unique vision to interpret the Capucines bag range with exceptional savoir faire.

From 3D printed leather, paintings recreated through the use of textured and embellished calfskin, to a striking hand-sprayed creation that gleamed with phosphorescence, this season’s artists proved the Capucines' ability to inspire unbridled creativity.

Explore the 4th series of ArtyCapucines and get to know this year’s line-up of contemporary artists in the gallery down below.

Amélie Bertrand - Inspired by summer nightlife, Amélie Bertrand’s hand-sprayed creation is the first-ever glow-in-the-dark Capucines. Made from an innovative pigment treatment, the graduated color scheme of the bag gleams with phosphorescence. A pair of oversized flowers and a kaleidoscopic chain that went under the “scarabeo” galvanizing process serves as a visually arresting ornament for the bag.

Daniel Buren - Known for his conceptual approach to sculpture and installation, esteemed contemporary artist Daniel Buren’s ArtyCapucines are a reflection of his long-term artistic themes. Inspired by a double-design concept, Daniel creates a bag that has symmetrical halves with each side differently colored with Louis Vuitton Taurillon leather. The color combinations on his ArtyCapucines evoke one of his most famous works, the ‘Observatory Of Light’ a large-scale artwork installed on the exterior of the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris in 2016.

Kennedy Yanko - Missouri-born artist Kennedy Yanko is known for her works made of found metal and paint skin, a material she makes by pouring large amounts of paint, letting it dry, and using the sheet-like form to create sculptural compositions. Her ArtyCapucines feature a unique 3D printed bag adorned with delicate touches of gold and paint skin. The best part? You can turn this artful creation to an elegant clutch by removing the bag’s leather handle.

Park Seo-bo - One of Korea’s most celebrated artists, Park Seo-bo is known for his ongoing ‘Écriture’ series, which exemplifies the artist’s focus on material and process through the use of paper, pencil, and acrylic paint. Seo-bo’s ArtyCapucines features a high-definition scan of the painting he created for LV. This painting is carefully applied on the calfskin exterior of the bag. The bag’s interior lining is made of natural linen canvas that reproduces the back of his original painting.

Peter Marino - An architect and well-known art lover, Peter Marino is known for his redefining works on architecture and interior design. Both he and his practice have a long association with Louis Vuitton, having designed flagship stores in Paris, London, Seoul, and Los Angeles. His all-black ArtyCapucines is made of 315 lightweight studs, an exclusive slide-bolt closure, and a bag flap made from a black metal bar adorned with the Louis Vuitton flower.

Ugo Rondinone - Ugo Rondinone is a Swiss-born artist widely known for his psychedelic paintings, large-scale drawings, and his mastery of other several forms of media. His joyful design for his ArtyCapucines captures a stunning harlequin pattern, a nod to his long-time aesthetic exploration of clowns. His creation for Louis Vuitton features 15,000 hand-embroidered beads, 3D-printed LV flowers, and a hand-crafted resin handle that projects bright light due to its rainbow resin material.
