Fathers and sons are expected to have the tightest bond with each other, just like how it is with veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez and his beloved son Richard Gutierrez, who both currently star in the action-drama series “Incognito.” We may not see much of how they are off the spotlight, yet we’re able to somehow get a glimpse of their bond through their portrayals of Tony and JB, who are also father and son like them. 

As it is in real life, the bond of their characters is also far from perfect, for they also have their own share of misunderstandings and arguments. However, it’s still their unconditional love and care for each other that prevail, especially as they face the threats of a notorious, powerful crime syndicate that hunted Tony down due to his involvement in their group. 

And in this Kapamilya Toplist feature, let us revisit the scenes that show the unbreakable bond of JB with his dad, Tony. 

In the earlier parts of the teleserye, we’d witnessed how their relationship used to be quite sour and detached, with Tony being a bit stern towards his unico hijo since he’s very concerned with his safety and welfare. JB might not have told him what he’d been up to during the days that he could not go home, but Tony already had a hunch about it. Despite his dad’s plea for him to stop and just focus on being reinstated to service, JB still opted to go on with his special mission.

In a couple of flashbacks, it was revealed that it apparently began when JB got dishonorably discharged from military service due to his participation in a mutiny against the president. However, instead of being proud that his son chose to stand by his principles, which he also ingrained in him, Tony got mad at his son since he not only put him in shame as the army chief general at the time but also because JB ruined his military career. 

But prior to that rift between them, Tony and JB had been very close, with the latter choosing to follow in the footsteps of his dad and the former expressing how proud he is of his son for successfully making it to the same field as he is. Tony even gave him a necklace, which JB eventually returned after passing the naval special operations training, telling him that it helped him survive. 

He may be one of the bravest soldiers of his time, but Tony confessed to JB that there’s still one thing that he has been really scared of happening—to bury his own child, which is perhaps every parent’s greatest fear. As he continues to discourage JB from pursuing his “job,” which the latter assumed had no difference from being a soldier, Tony argued that he would die with no honor and legacy. 

Seeing the tattoo of his dad, which was completely identical to the one printed on the Escalera master list that he and Andres (Daniel Padilla) had retrieved, might have initially caused him to doubt Tony, but JB still opted to believe that his father was innocent. Tony asserted that it was part of his job as a secret operative back then and his way of saving innocent people from imminent danger. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to accomplish that mission of seizing the Escaleras, so Tony suddenly has a change of heart and has now entrusted his unfinished business in the hands of JB and his crewmates.

Just when we thought that Tony would be killed by an assassin who was presumed to be connected with the Escaleras, JB came right on time to rescue his father. Tony might have sustained a fatal gunshot wound, but he was able to survive. 

As the authorities finally got ahold of the master list, Tony was arrested. Despite JB’s assertion that he’s innocent and that his involvement was merely part of the mission, not to mention that he was a former general, Tony assured him that it’s definitely okay and they must obey the law. As he visited his dad in detention, JB promised to do anything that he could to get Tony out of there.
