Teleseryes have a wonderful way of making us feel a plethora of various emotions—may it be kilig, joy, suspense, fear, or anger. But regardless of the genre, theme, or plot of the series we’re watching, one of the elements that seems to never be missing is the dramatic and poignant scenes that leave us sad, devastated, and perhaps, even ugly crying.

As we usually spend the Holy Week in silence to reflect on and revisit the sorrows of Jesus, we are diving into the heart-wrenching moments in recent Kapamilya teleseryes that probably left us devastated and even sobbing in this special feature.

Grace laments on her sufferings, Saving Grace: The Untold Story

We can all definitely agree that no child deserves to be maltreated, just like what Grace (Zia Grace) has suffered in the hands of her mom, Sarah (Jennica Garcia), and her stepdad, Chito (Christian Bables), who were supposed to take good care of her. Thus, we really felt her pain through her tears and words in this scene wherein she conveyed her yearning to fly away with the flock of birds that she and her Teacher Anna (Julia Montes) saw from the pier.

Grace then went on to lament on how she felt unloved by her parents, particularly by her mother, for putting her inside a sack and discarding her, as if she were a huge chunk of junk. But what shattered her heart more (and even ours) was when Anna—her one and only savior at the time—had to leave to pursue her original plans. As Anna told her that she would entrust her to her co-teacher, Patty (Lotlot Bustamante), Grace assured her in between tears that she didn’t have to worry about her, for she could fend for herself.

Max fails to save the love of her life, Incognito

As she used to be somber and deadpan most of the time in the early episodes of the series, we got curious about what made Max Alvero (Kaila Estrada) be like that. And it was later on revealed that it was because she witnessed the tragic death of the ultimate love of her life, Sevi (Victor Silayan), during their last mission together.

Since they were the only ones left on the battlefield, she couldn’t help but blame herself for being the reason why he had to sacrifice his life in order to protect her from the enemies. As if that wasn’t already painful, Max got discharged afterwards from service for insubordination and desertion, as her actions caused the demise of Sevi and the failure of their operations.

Jasmin, heartbroken over her mother’s death, Lavender Fields

Aside from getting her heart broken by Tyrone (Jericho Rosales), little did Jasmin (Jodi Sta. Maria) know that her connection with him would spawn a couple of tragedies. As his wife, Iris (Janine Gutierrez), sent her henchmen to Jasmin’s house to abduct her, the latter’s mom, Rosita (Lotlot de Leon), got killed as they attempted to fight back and escape.

Apparently not satisfied yet, Iris even tortured her and almost murdered her, but Jasmin managed to knock her down despite being pregnant and weak. Due to her condition and the situation, Jasmin opted to not show up at her beloved mom’s funeral and simply took a peek from the window as she recalled a fond memory that she had with her. It was indeed heartbreaking, right?

Grace and Moises were deeply hurt by Ernesto's death, Pamilya Sagrado

He might be able to escape from the evil Jaime Sagrado (Tirso Cruz III) and his minions, but Moises’ (Kyle Echarri) freedom came at a high price as the former killed his grandpa, Ernesto (Joel Torre), in his place. Grief indeed engulfed him, his Aunt Grace (Shaina Magdayao), and their companions Rafael (Piolo Pascual) and Elias (John Arcilla), as they watched the enemies drag Ernesto’s lifeless body to the sea and retrieve as soon as the foes were gone.

Witnessing the death of the man who stood as his father most of his life and tried to save him until his last breath was indeed heartbreaking for Moises. Since he couldn’t do anything to bring him back to life, all that he was able to do was scream and call out “Bossing” or God for allowing tragedies to happen to their family.

Tanggol questions God for Mokang's death, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo

We may often see him as a tough and strong guy, but Tanggol (Coco Martin) automatically becomes a “softie” when it comes to the people close to his heart—and that includes his first and greatest love, Mokang (Lovi Poe). Thus, he was totally heartbroken when she died after being unintentionally shot by Olga (Irma Adlawan) in the head as she tried to save Tanggol.

Her sudden death really devastated Tanggol, as apart from looking forward to living a brand-new life with her since they were officially a couple at that time, she was just among the few people in his life who genuinely loved and cared for him.
