One Music Exclusive Ben&Ben on the Ultimate Creative Dilemma: Would You Create the Greatest Album Ever If No One Else Could Hear It?

In a candid moment during our exclusive sit-down with beloved folk-pop collective Ben&Ben, we posed a hypothetical but philosophical question: "If a Supreme Being (God, Satan, John Mayer—whoever or whatever you believe in) offered you the chance to create the Greatest Album Ever, but the catch is that no one else will ever hear it - would you take the deal?

Jam was quick to say yes.

"Music has always been a sacred part of my life," she said. “So being able to create something even if no one else hears it, okay lang sa akin. Especially specially if we do it na kaming siyam, probably the pinaka cool of our career,"

But Andrew had a different take.

“Ako opposite ako. Mas gusto kong gumawa ng music kahit olats 'yung lyrics, basta mashare ko sa iba. At least may kasama akong makinig, kahit sablay, may kasabay ako.”

And just when we thought it would stop there, Patricia chimed in, offering a third perspective:

“I really believe artists are meant to be shared. It’s through art that we connect, create culture, and tell our stories,"

Jam, listening intently, added nuance to her point.

“I argue that your ‘self’ is also an audience, especially if you consider creation as something deeply personal,”

This small exchange, layered with respect and curiosity, captures the band’s dynamic. In the eight years they’ve been making music together, Ben&Ben has embraced their differences—not as obstacles, but as the very roots of their creative growth.

As the band continues to evolve with each performance, they're also reflecting on the lessons learned during this leg of the tour.

"Ang learnings namin doon ay we need to find a way to manage our energy, kasi ang haba ng 2 hours and 30 minutes—nakakapagod talaga siya," shared Andrew. "But the fun part of it is, very particular yung thing na ma-e-experience lang namin sa ganitong klaseng concert: yung moment na sagad na sagad ka na sa pagod pero halfway pa lang yung set. So anong gagawin mo doon? Yun yung fun question na nasasagot namin—and it shows."

Ben also pointed out an area where they saw room for improvement: “Tingin ko, isa sa mga dapat pa naming i-improve ay yung visual component ng show. Since visuals are one of the main components of this specific tour, marami din kaming learnings tungkol doon.”

Following the release of their highly acclaimed concept album The Traveller Across Dimensions, Filipino folk-pop powerhouse Ben&Ben has officially launched their global album tour, starting with a sold-out show in Cebu last May 24.

The originally scheduled shows in Bacolod (June 8) and Davao (June 22) have been postponed due to an unforeseen situation involving band member Jam. The band emphasized their desire for fans to experience the live performances in full, and made the decision to reschedule the shows out of respect for that connection. New dates will be announced soon. Meanwhile, all overseas tour dates will proceed as scheduled.

They’ll bring their music overseas, with performances lined up at Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, California on July 12, and tickets are now available at thundervalleyresort.com and Arena@Expo in Singapore on December 14. Tickets for both international shows are now available, and additional dates and venues will be announced soon.

For this tour, Ben&Ben will perform songs from their third studio album, along with fan-favorite hits from previous records. Released on November 29, 2024, The Traveller Across Dimensions has already produced standout tracks such as “Could Be Something” and “Tomorrow with You.”
