CANDON, Ilocos Sur (UPDATED) – Alas Pilipinas did not make it to the podium at the 2025 SEA Men’s V.League.

This, as the home squad absorbed a 19-25, 17-25, 17-25 loss against Indonesia on Sunday, dropping to fourth place of the Candon, Ilocos Sur-hosted regional tiff.

It was an unfortunate result for Alas, which even had a chance for the gold entering the final day.

Thailand dashed Philippines’ title dreams immediately after a 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 triumph over Cambodia during the first game to reach the Candon mountaintop.

Even a roaring Candon crowd could not fuel the Alas Men, who were not able to establish any momentum against Indonesia in the second game.

Indonesia's Boy Arnez Arabi dealt the most damage to the Philippines, firing 21 points. He was eventually named a Best Outside Spiker.

Leo Ordiales, who went on to win Best Opposite Spiker award, registered a team-high 12 points which all came from attack. Buds Buddin added six points and six excellent digs, while Filipino hero versus Cambodia Jade Disquitado chipped in six points.

Amid his heroics this leg, individual plum awardee Ordiales vowed to be better in the Indonesian leg of the tournament.

“Pagbubutihan ko pa, mas hihigitan ko pa ‘yung pinerform ko rito. Sana maka-podium kami sa second leg,” said Ordiales.

Team Philippines has a chance to bounce back in the next SEA V.League, set for July 16-20 in Jakarta.
