SB19, MAKI, TJ Monterde Receive Nominations at Inaugural Music Awards Japan 2025

Presented by Japan's Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (CEIPA) in cooperation with the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the inaugural award show is set to be held on May 21 and 22, 2025, at the ROHM Theater, Kyoto.


Ppop kings SB19, city pop and falsetto-core wunderkind MAKI, and seasoned pop star balladeer TJ Monterde were announced to be included in the final list of nominations at the inaugural Music Awards Japan 2025 that will be held at ROHM Theater, Kyoto this May 21 and 22, 2025.


Maki's "Dilaw" and TJ Monterde's "Palagi" were both nominated  in the "Best of Listeners' Choice: International Songs (powered by Spotify)" category, while SB19 was one of the 10 final nominees in the "Special Award: Oshi-Katsu Request Artist of the Year (powered by USEN)" category. Maki and TJ's biggest hits were listed alongside songs from global superstars such as Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Le Sserafim, Seventeen, NewJeans, and Sabrina Carpenter, among many others. SB19 is nominated alongside BE:FIRST, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and V of BTS, among others.


The awards are presented by Japan's Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (CEIPA) in cooperation with the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)The awards aim to promote Japanese and Asian music on a global stage. CEIPA was founded by the five major music organizations of the Japanese music industry - the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), the Japan Association of Music Enterprises, the Federation of Music Producers Japan, the Music Publishers Association of Japan, and the All Japan Concert & Live Entertainment Promoter's Conference.


NHK while broadcast the second day of the award show, while both days are to be livestreamed globally on YouTube.
