‘Hello, Love, Again’ caps off Asian World Film Festival, Kathryn Bernardo honored at awards night

Joy and Ethan have landed in California! From bonding with audiences to marking a career milestone, here’s what went down when “Hello, Love, Again”, starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, joined the 10th Asian World Film Festival in Culver City. 

Closing film

Kathryn and Alden graced a sold-out screening of “Hello, Love, Again” on Thursday, November 21 (Philippine time), for the festival’s tenth edition, where the Star Cinema and GMA Pictures co-production served as the closing film.

Before sharing their work with our kababayans abroad, the two stars walked the red carpet at the Culver Theater. Kathryn was a vision in her sky blue drop-waist dress, while Alden looked dashing in his dark blue checkered suit.  

The pair also made time to interact with their fans as they signed movie posters and memorabilia.

Joining the two were fellow cast members Kevin Kreider, Valerie Concepcion, Marvin Aritrangco, Mark Labella, and Ruby Rodriguez. ABS-CBN Films head Kriz Gazmen and fellow executives Marizel Samson-Martinez, Carmi Raymundo, Mico Del Rosario, and John Leo Garcia also came to support. 

Q&A session 

Later that night, the "Hello, Love, Again” cast and co-writer Carmi Raymundo sat down for a special question-and-answer session, where audience members got the chance to ask the team about the film’s themes, Kathryn and Alden’s chemistry, and the story’s depiction of international workers.

Alden reflected on what he learned from portraying the struggles of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

“The love that we have for our families is our core,” he said. “And of course, ‘yung mga bagay na ginagawa po natin will all be worth it because we know we have good intentions.”

When it was time for Kathryn to answer, the actress particularly got emotional. She addressed the OFWs in the theater: “Hindi naman ibibigay kung hindi natin kakayanin. So whatever it is you’re going through right now, alam ko hindi naman biro ‘yung buhay n’yo po dito, and I have so much respect sa lahat sa inyo.” 

Awards night 

As a beautiful close to the movie’s meaningful journey at the Asian World Film Festival, Kathryn took home the “Snow Leopard Rising Star Award” during the festival’s awards night on Friday, November 22 (Philippine time). Kathryn was honored with a montage detailing her TV and film performances in the last 21 years.  

“I started at the age of six. And over the years, I've been fortunate to bring a variety characters to life. Each one teaching me something new, not just as an actor, but as a person,” she said in her speech. “Twenty two years later, I am still here, pursuing my first love.”

Helmed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, “Hello, Love, Again” also stars Joross Gamboa, Jobert Austria, Jeffrey Tam, Jennica Garcia, Kakai Bautista, Lovely Abella, Maymay Entrata, Wilbert Ross, Jameson Blake, and Anthony Jennings.  

“Hello, Love, Again” is now showing on its second week in cinemas worldwide.
