Gary Valenciano and RJ Dela Fuente have teamed up for a heartfelt rendition of Laura Story’s Christian ballad “Blessings”, released in time for Holy Week.

The collaboration offers a fresh interpretation of the track, highlighting themes of faith, healing, and resilience during life’s most challenging moments.

Gary described the duet as one of the most meaningful in his career, not just for the vocal blend but for the shared message of hope. “More than our styles complementing each other, it’s our united stand, belief, and faith in Jesus that I believe has made it a perfect fit,” he shared. “Probably one of my favorite duet recordings in my lifetime.”

Produced and arranged by longtime musical director Mon Faustino, with recording consultant Mike Jamir, the track holds personal significance for both artists. 

Gary has openly credited the song as a source of comfort during his own medical battles. “Not every blessing comes in an ideal, joyful, happy, celebratory manner," he remarked. "Blessings can come hidden behind trials that come in various forms, and our prayer is that our listeners will know that not all disappointments are failures but surely sometimes delays that God allows to hone our character into becoming more like His before we are given that which we have asked of Him."

The singer went on: "Big blessings may require heightened responsibilities on our part and God can use the trials to deepen our personal walks with Jesus and strengthen us for more battles and blessings we will surely face in the future.”

RJ echoed similar sentiments, sharing that the song’s message closely aligns with his own journey through grief. He recounted the loss of his stepmother to cancer, a period during which he also turned to faith for peace.

“The original artist, Laura Story, talked about how her husband was faced with a brain tumor and health conditions, which was the story behind this song. She talked about how she had to find comfort and had to depend on God during that tough time. I myself also had to find peace and comfort in Him when my family and I were grieving the loss of my stepmom due to cancer," he relayed.

The duet was first performed live at CBN Asia’s Beyond Measure concert at the Araneta Coliseum last year, where the two artists surprised audiences with the emotional number.

The release of the song also marks a milestone for both Gary and RJ, who are pursuing projects under Sony Music Entertainment and WATERWALK RECORDS, which is a label dedicated to uplifting Christian music for today’s digital generation.
