Fans of 1621 were treated to energy-filled performances as the rising P-pop group officially launched their second EP Sapulso at the Holic Dance and Night Club in Quezon City on Friday, April 11.

The six-member boy group composed of Pan, Win, Migz, DJ, JM, and JC exclusively shared their EP launching with their families, friends in the showbiz industry, and their beloved fans whom they fondly call “Guardians.”

Some of the songs they performed at the event were “Stuck,” “Maria,” “Bagamundo” and “Bababa” which are part of their sophomore EP along with “Diwata” and “Secret.”

Now available on all streaming platforms, Sapulso features songs that tackle the “complexities of love.”

Embracing their own style, the P-pop group used upbeat music and heartfelt lyrics in their newly released songs.

During a media conference prior to the event, member DJ explained the reason behind the EP’s title.

“Simple lang po ito kasi lahat ng songs sa EP namin, sapul at namin. So kapag in love ka, kapag may crush ka ganon sapul sa puso, kaya Sapulso,” he explained.

Drawing the line between Sapulso and their first EP 1621BC, the P-pop group admitted they have mustered more confidence and found their own style this time around.

“Siguro from the first [EP], at that point parang hinahanap pa namin ‘yung sound namin. So, we tried different styles, different genres. So, maybe ‘yung advantage namin sa second EP namin is nahanap na namin ‘yung sound namin. Parang this is us as 1621. 'Pag may song kami, parang ‘ah ito sila.’ Nahanap na namin yung identity namin, parang nahanap namin ‘yung song namin,” Pan told entertainment reporters.

Supporting Pan’s statement, JM further explained: “With this second EP, nag-explore po talaga kami ng different genres. We did try ‘yung mga ‘Bagamundo,’ ‘yung mga dark concepts, and then we did bubblegum pop songs. So actually,  dito po talaga namin na-receive ‘yung reaction ng mga supporters from social media platforms na ‘bagay sa kanila mga ganitong songs, ito ‘yung song na nagsu-suit talaga sa kanila. So doon po namin na-realize na ‘ah oo nga naman, ‘yun talaga ‘yung song namin kasi pag-pinerform po namin para mas confident, comfortable kami.”

In less than 24 hours, Sapulso already reached over 100,000 streams on Spotify.

ABS-CBN record label Star Pop was quick to express its gratitude for the P-pop group’s supporters.

“Guardians, we just reached a new milestone together with you,” it wrote in an Instagram post.

The successful milestone was likewise announced during the EP launch, delighting the fans who attended the event.
