MOIRA Dela Torre has captivated listeners with the release of her new album "I’m Okay".

After two and a half years of meticulous work, this project marks the beloved singer-songwriter’s long-awaited return to the music scene. Featuring 12 tracks—eight in English and four in Tagalog—the album showcases a rich tapestry of emotions, highlighting themes of resilience and self-discovery.

The album’s title track, “I’m Okay,” speaks of the struggle of pushing through tough times—something almost everyone can relate to. It’s a heartfelt reminder that even in life’s hardest moments, we’re never truly alone, because connections can be found or made through shared challenges.

SONG REVIEW. Take note how Moira intentionally formatted the title in quote marks already, suggesting that the song's persona isn't as alright as she perpetrates to be. RATING: 4 out of 5

To celebrate the release of "I’m Okay", fans were greeted with an innovative campaign that will bring her music to the silver screen—a cinematic trailer for the album before the start of select films during the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). These trailers were played in select movie theaters across the metro, including Glorietta 4, Market Market, and TriNoma

Running from December 25 to December 31, the trailer offers a powerful glimpse into the album’s emotional depth. It also marks the first time a Filipino artist’s work is promoted in this unique manner. It reimagines how fans experience music, transforming movie theaters into immersive spaces for both sound and storytelling.

The album offers listeners an intimate experience, exploring themes of emotional reckoning, growth, and healing through tracks like “Under The Bathroom Sink,” (which opens with a thought-provoking line that goes "I've been thinking lately / If it would be better if I just disappear...") “Ghosts,” (a song about coming to grips with having to let someone go), the deceptively meditative-sounding “Bandaid,” ("'Di ko alam ang gagawin, kahit ano pa ang sabihin / 'Di mo naman naririnig, parang ang  layo mo na rin / Nandito ka nga sa'king tabi, pero nakaguhit ang ngiti / Ang sugat ba'y gumagaling / O natututo lang ba tayong magkunwari?") and “Dinggin.” The latter closes the album on an upbeat note, a plea to let go of past trials and be together forever ("Bilangin mo na ang lahat / 'Wag lang oras nating dal'wa / Kahit habangbuhay ay kulang pa rin para mahalin ka"). Described by Moira as a labor of love, "I’m Okay" was inspired by seasons of unexpected turns and profound reflections. Each of the 12 tracks delivers an authentic and heartfelt journey.

Mostly, the album depicts the coping mechanisms that come with going through the failing signs, the "Red Flags" (which, by the way, is the title of a very nimble-sounding track that comes with a scathing closing chorus that goes "You said you made a mistake but isn't a mistake /Only a mistake if it's one time / But it's again and again / Sorry, honey, but I just gotta run for my life / Wasted five years of my life / Were they worth all of your lies, oh, why? / You said you made a mistake / But darling, that's a shame / 'Cause you didn't do it just one time / Or two times or three times or five times / I forget, bye bye...") and the sordid parts of a relationship.

This highlights Moira’s prowess of crafting melodies or songs that resonates with Filipinos, with fans valuing the genuine connection she fosters through her songwriting. The "I’m Okay" trailer is as evocative as the album itself, crafted with the same meticulous care.

Through her latest album and its groundbreaking promotional campaign, Moira continues to push artistic boundaries, offering a whole new experience that redefines music and how it connects with audiences.

“I’m Okay” is available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.
