The People's Superstars Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino have proven their box office mettle after their first romcom, "My Love Will Make You Disappear", earned more than P100 million at the box office in just 6 days.

The movie, directed by Chad V. Vidanes from a screenplay by Patrick Valencia and Isabella Policarpio, opened in Philippine cinemas on March 26 and has breached the P100-million mark in worldwide box office sales as of March 31.

A Variety report said the film has pulled in approximately $500,000 during its opening weekend across North America after earning $200,000 on its first day of commercial release.

The movie, produced by ABS-CBN's Star Cinema, is now tracking for a projected $1.3M-$1.5 million theatrical run, which will make it among the top five highest-grossing Filipino films in North America since the pandemic, according to Variety.

Chiu and Avelino were previously paired in the hit series "What Happened to Secretary Kim" and "Linlang." "My Love Will Make You Disappear" is their first romcom together as leads.

In the movie, Chiu plays Samantha "Sari" Gonzales, a girl who has been cursed that every man she kisses will disappear. Sari is determined to stay single for the rest of her life until she meets Jacob (Avelino), a troubled landlord who decides to woo her.

Chiu and Avelino recently received recognition from the California State Assembly amid screenings and meet-and-greet sessions in Los Angeles over the weekend.

The Kapamilya lead stars accepted certificates signed by California 65th district Assembly member Mike Gipson.

It read: "On behalf of the California State Assembly, it gives me great pleasure to commend you for your invaluable contributions to the world of cinema and your role in highlighting Asian artistic excellence internationally. Best wishes and continued success in the entertainment industry."
