The pair are set to headline the drama "Slowly But Intensely" (literal title), which began filming last January 12, Korean entertainment news portal Soompi reported on Monday.

Penned by famed screenwriter Noh Hee-kyung, "Slowly But Intensely" is reportedly set in the broadcasting industry of the 1960s and 1970s.

This drama marks Noh's third collaboration with Hye-kyo, following their work on "Worlds Within" in 2008 and "That Winter, The Wind Blows" in 2013. Noh is also celebrated for penning hit dramas like "It's Okay, That's Love" and "Our Blues."

The series is expected to have 22 episodes and is in talks to be released on Netflix, according to the Soompi article.

Hye-kyo is known for her roles in the dramas "Autumn in My Heart," "Full House," "Descendants of the Sun," and most recently, the critically acclaimed "The Glory."

Gong Yoo, meanwhile, rose to fame with his performance in the romance drama "Coffee Prince." His other notable works include the zombie horror film "Train to Busan," and series such as "Goblin," "Squid Game" and "The Trunk."
