He’s only been in showbiz for less than six years, but Star Magic artist Anthony Jennings already started making his presence known onscreen, starting with his role as Alden Richards’ youngest brother Eric in Star Cinema’s blockbuster film Hello, Love, Goodbye in 2019. But it was his role as the lovable Snoop in 2023 Donbelle series Can’t Buy Me Love that made him a household name, alongside his onscreen partner Maris Racal. Despite the growing fame, the 24-year-old Fil-British actor explains why he chooses to stay humble. 

“Gusto ko naman yung nakikilala ka ng tao paunti-unti. Masaya siya. Masaya siya sa puso ko and grateful naman ako na nakakuha ako ng mga opportunities na mas makilala pa as an artist and as an actor. Happy naman ako kung ano yung path ng buhay ko ngayon. I’m being a sponge lang. Gusto ko lang mag-aral ng mag-aral pa and matuto sa mga tao dito sa industry, sa mga mas senior sa akin, sa mga veterans,” he told PUSH ABS-CBN in an exclusive interview. “Ano pa naman ako eh, I’m still a dreamer, ganun.”

Even with multiple projects already under his belt, Anthony says he still wants to tackle bigger acting challenges in his next projects, if possible. “I think challenging naman ang every role. Depende eh kung ano yung role mo. Ako kasi, medyo hindi naman sa sinasabi kong hindi na challenging yung ibang roles, pero kumportable na ako sa comedy, ganun. So medyo mas madali na siya sa akin, mas magaan na siya. Pero siyempre, yung drama, marami pa tayong kailangan hanapin sa sarili natin sa kung ano ang kaya natin gawin dun,” he said.

Although he is known for playing ‘masa’ roles, Anthony shared that it actually mirrors his real life personality. “Siguro relatable lang din kasi ako. Since dun din naman ako galing and mahal ko din naman yung masa, mahal ko yung mga tao. Kita naman yun sa mga clips, pag may mga videos, kung sinu-sino lang yung mga kausap ko. Siguro sa personality ko na rin mismo talaga yung maging ganun di ba?”
